09 BEST START-UP PROJECTS ENTERED THE FINAL ROUND OF “IU STARTUP DEMO DAY 2020”
On the morning of 5 July 2020, International University (IU) – Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City held the final round of the competition “IU Startup Demo Day 2020” to seek and develop more startup ideas. This is the second time that IU has organized the startup competition and this year, 09 best projects entered the final round.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice Rector of IU – gave the opening speech at the final round of the IU Start Up Demo Day 2020.
IU Startup Demo Day is a competition for Sophomore and Senior Students, alumni, and graduate students. The contest is organized to stimulate creativity, dynamic thinking and help the participants acquire experience and knowledge. This year, IU organized the IU Startup Demo Day 2020 to equip the participants with start-up knowledge through the support of businesses and technology advisors.
Judges and visitors observed the demo products and listened to the presentation of the participants.
This year, the competition was launched from May 18 to June 10, 2020, and received 15 registered projects from many fields. The jury selected 9 best projects to announce on 17 June, 2020 on the competition Fanpage. TOP 9 then continued to perfect the project through support from the University’s Advisory Board, lecturers in technique, marketing, finance and soft skills before the final round.

In section 1 of the final round, each team displayed the demo products and introduced the products through posters, images, information for the guests to vote. In section 2, each team presented the project plan in 5 minutes and answered questions in 10 minutes from the jury board including business owners andexperts. The judges gave score based on the feasibility, business plan, financial plan, project presentation skills and critical skills to select the best projects.

As a result, the first prize of 28,000,000 VND was awarded to DIIMIDE team with cooking oil extracted from avocado oil. The second prize of 20,000,000 VND was awarded to SERICARE product – sunscreen milk extracted from silkworm cocoons. The third prize of 13,000,000 VND was awarded to the project of IELTS TINDER – an application to support English speaking skills.

In addition, three additional prizes were awarded to 1 project with high applicability, 1 project with Prize for the most impressive presentation and 1 project with the most votes from the audience.
The teams received additional prizes from the Organizers.
The three top-winning teams continue to be supported for product development, formation, and participation in other startup competitions to improve their products, seek investment and connect with the market.
