FOR 2 CONSECUTIVE YEARS, INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY IS RANKED IN THE TOP 5 OF THE SOCIAL BUSINESS CREATION COMPETITION’S “INSTITUTIONAL PRIZE”

FOR 2 CONSECUTIVE YEARS, INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY IS RANKED IN THE TOP 5 OF THE SOCIAL BUSINESS CREATION COMPETITION’S “INSTITUTIONAL PRIZE”

In the morning of October 1st, 2022 (GMT+7), the final round of the Social Business Creation (SBC) competition 2022 took place at HEC Montréal Business School, Canada. This is the second time IU participated in the competition, and also their second time to be named in the top 5 of the Institutional Prize, a prize that honored the institutions having an impact on innovative social business activities worldwide.

In this year competition, IU brought two projects: Brain Analytics and TeleHos.

BRAIN ANALYTICS studies the AI-based application that diagnoses Alzheimer’s using MRI results. The project is conducted by Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Trang – the team’s representative, and supervised by Dr. Ha Thi Thanh Huong (Chair of Department of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, School of Biomedical Engineering)

TELEHOS studies and builds remote sphygmomanometers that help prevent heart diseases. The project was conducted by Mr. Le Minh Nguyen – the team’s representative, and supervised by Dr. Nguyen Thanh Qua (Lecturer of the School of Biomedical Engineering)

Surpassing approximately 140 teams from more than 20 countries such as Canada, Mexico, Italy, Germany, South Korea, India, Bangladesh, etc., BRAIN ANALYTICS excellently made their way into the final TOP 4 to compete in the finale before the experienced judges.

Brain Analytics was one of the four excellent projects worldwide that made it the finale of SBC 2022.

Ms. Pham Thi Nhu Trang, the representative from Brain Analytics competed in the finale.

TELEHOS was also honored to be included in the final TOP 7.

Ms. Nhu Trang and Mr. Nguyen Nguyen took a photo with the judges after the Pitching round.

Although the two teams did not make it to the podium, they succeeded in demonstrating IU students’ profound concern and desire to solve social problems with their achievements through the four challenging rounds.

Previously, Brain Analytics had won the “Innovative Social Business Concept” for the top 5 best projects of SBC 2021’s second round.

Assoc. Prof. Thai Thi Thanh Mai (Director of SBC competition worldwide) delivered the prize to Brain Analytics.

Social Business Creation (SBC) is an innovative global platform that promotes social businesses as a competition initialized, organized, and academically aided by HEC Montréal (Canada) and Prof. Muhammad Yunus, 2006 Noble Peace laureate. The competition aims at executing 17 sustainable development goals by the UN, seeking participation from business projects with social impact and universities with social impact worldwide. In 7 years, the competition has attracted participation from more than 100 universities from 26 countries. Nanoneem project, in their first time in the competition, excellently won the First prize in SBC 2021 as a team from IU.
