NEARLY 2200 NEW STUDENTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OFFICIALLY BEGIN THE 2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WELCOMES OVER 2000 NEW STUDENTS IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

On the morning of October 4th, International University – Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) (IU) held its opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year, with the attendance of numerous distinguished guests, representatives, and nearly 2200 new students from 49 provinces across the country.

In the festive and joyful atmosphere of the opening ceremony, IU welcomed 2,167 new students from seven different admission methods. Among them, 1.758 students were admitted through the national high school graduation exam, while 294 other students were admitted through the competency assessment exam organized by Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

The ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests, including representatives from the university’s administration, Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), teachers from high schools, sponsors of scholarship programs, media agencies, and thousands of new students from the K2024 batch of IU.

The distinguished guests, along with over 2.000 new students from 47 provinces across the country, participated in the Flag-raising Ceremony.

The performance “Vietnamese Student Aspiration” opened this year’s Opening Ceremony at the International University.

Student Nguyễn Kim Ngân – the valedictorian of Admission Method 1 in 2024 – presented flowers in gratitude to Mr. Đỗ Văn Trị, the Principal of Lê Thánh Tông Secondary and High School in Ho Chi Minh City, where Ngân had studied for three years in high school.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Lê Văn Thăng – President of the International University (IU) – inspired many students with his sincere words: “Each student should harness the spirit of youth, while also integrating the traditions of our country. You will be the generation that inherits and develops not only for yourselves but also for the nation. I believe that the university leadership, our faculty, and you, the students, will achieve great accomplishments in the future.”

Associate Professor, Dr. Lê Văn Thăng – President of the International University (IU) – delivered the opening speech.

Each year, to encourage both undergraduate and graduate students with excellent academic achievements, IU provides scholarships to students who perform well in the entrance exams as well as those who excel academically at the university. Notably, the significant support and contributions from esteemed partner companies and sponsors have always been an essential part of the university’s efforts. These companies not only accompany the university but also consistently offer scholarship policies to support IU students.

Prof. Dr. Đinh Đức Anh Vũ – Vice Rector of the International University – received the Vietcombank scholarship, which was presented by Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Trà, Vice Director of Vietcombank, Ho Chi Minh City Branch, to the new students.

Prof. Dr. Đinh Đức Anh Vũ received the BIDV scholarship from Mr. Đặng Văn Kiên, Director of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), East Saigon Branch, who presented the scholarship to the new students.

Prof. Dr. Đinh Đức Anh Vũ received the scholarship from Agribank, presented by Mr. Hồ Viết Đông Lâm, Vice Director of the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Ho Chi Minh City Branch, awarded the scholarship to the new students.

In this new academic year, the university awarded 145 scholarships, including 73 full scholarships and 72 partial scholarships, with a total value of over 30 billion VND, to honor and reward the new students who achieved outstanding results in the recent university entrance exam.

Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Thăng and Prof. Dr. Đinh Đức Anh Vũ awarded scholarships and took commemorative photos with the students who received full scholarships, representing the various faculties and departments.

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the International University (IU) welcomed two top students: Ngô Gia Phong, the top scorer in the Vietnam National University’s competency assessment exam with 1056/1200 points, studying Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Nguyễn Kim Ngân, the top scorer in the National High School Graduation Exam with 29.05/30 points, studying Biomedical Engineering. With their outstanding achievements, both students were awarded 100% full scholarships for all four years of their undergraduate studies.

Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Thăng – President of the International University (IU) – and Dr. Hồ Nhựt Quang – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council of IU – presented the full scholarship to Nguyễn Kim Ngân, the top scorer in the National High School Graduation Exam for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Thăng – President of the International University (IU) – and Dr. Hồ Nhựt Quang – Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the University Council of IU – presented a full scholarship to Ngô Gia Phong, the top scorer in the admission process based on the results of the Vietnam National University’s competency assessment exam for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Ngô Gia Phong – a new student of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management program in 2024, top scorer of the 2024 admission process (Method 5) at the International University – shared his thoughts as a new student on behalf of the Class of 2024.

At the end of the opening ceremony, amid the anticipation and excitement of all the new students, Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Thăng performed the opening ritual for the new academic year 2024-2025.

Lê Nguyễn Bảo Ngọc, Miss Intercontinental 2022 and a student of the Faculty of Business Administration at the International University, attended the opening ceremony and took photos with the new students.
