
DELEGATION FROM 20 LEADING U.S. UNIVERSITIES VISITS INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HO CHI MINH CITY): OPENING DOORS FOR GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
On the morning of April 3rd, International University (IU) had the honour of welcoming a delegation representing 20 leading U.S. universities for discussionsas part of the 2025 International Academic Partnership (IAPP) in Vietnam.
International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) is a programme coordinated by the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Institute of International Education (IIE). IAPP aims to support Vietnamese higher education institutions in building and implementing bilateral collaborations with U.S. educational institutions.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Duy Phương – Head of the Office of External and Public Relations – delivered a welcome speech to the delegation during their visit on April 3rd, 2025.
Ms. Natella Svistunova – Cultural Attaché at the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City – stated, “This delegation focuses on building partnerships and cooperation in education, particularly in the areas of research, academic and student exchanges, and other forms of international collaboration. We sincerely hope that this programme will pave the way for the next 30 years of partnership between Vietnam and the United States.”
Ms. Natella Svistunova further asserted: “Education is a key pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The IAPP plays a vital role in enhancing partnership between the U.S and Vietnam in the future, as well as the strategies to reinforce the existing collaborations and fostering new ones.”

The delegation included representatives from the Institute of International Education (IIE), the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, and senior leaders from prestigious universities across 17 U.S. states. The visiting delegation at International University (IU) included representatives from leading educational institutions.
During the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Ngọc Duy Phương introduced IU’s joint programmes, student activities (both domestic and international), and research achievements. He also highlighted IU’s potential for international collaborations through the development of joint programmes such as 2+2, 3+1, 4+0, as well as postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) education programmes.

After the overview discussion about IU’s achievements, particularly about the international academic potential representatives from U.S. institutions expressed their interest by asking follow-up questionsto gather more information about IU’s strategies of expanding the postgraduate programmes and international internship programmes. They also focused on IU’s potentials in academic research and joint programmes currently and in times to come.
The delegation asked questions to inquire further information about international collaborations.
After the plenary session, the delegation had the opportunity to meet and discuss separately with representatives from various faculties/departments of IU. Over the course of more than 60 minutes, in-depth discussions were held to pursue potential collaboration and expand joint programmes between faculties/departments. This private session aimed to broaden relationships and expand academic programsbetween IU’s faculties/departments and the U.S. outstanding academic institutions, affirming the university’s pioneering role in deep international integration.

In addition, the delegation was given a tour of IU’s advanced laboratories. They observed firsthand the university’s investment in cutting-edge scientific research infrastructure, underscoring IU’s commitment to scientific development.

The productive two-hour session between IU and the visiting representatives promised to expand opportunities for international academic cooperation. It also reaffirmed IU’s global vision and pioneering position in enhancing educational quality and promoting international integration.
