ABB VIETNAM PRESENTED AN 8-BILLION-VND ROBOT STATION TO IU

In the morning, of June 2nd, 2023, International University – VNU-HCM (IU) organized the hand-over ceremony of the robot station and Robotstudio Robot Stimulation Package from ABB Automation and Electrification (ABB) Vietnam. The robot station and Robotstudio Robot Stimulation Package are worth 8 billion VND.

The ceremony shows not only  IU’s incentives in their present Higher education training but also the bond between an institution and an enterprise. The ceremony contributes to the enhancement of the partnership between IU and enterprises. This bond between IU and enterprises not only helps promote the strengths of the two parties but also provide mutual support in operation and development.

Assoc. Prof. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice-President of IU – expressed his gratitude toward ABB Vietnam

To express his joy and gratitude to a business’s heart for IU’s training scheme, Assoc. Prof. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice-President of IU – shared his thoughts: “I would like to express the joy and gratitude toward ABB Vietnam for the acceptance to donate an ABB programming and operating Robot System valued at 8 billion VND to the Electrical and Electronics Department of the university I believe that this will provide students with a cutting-edge learning environment, assist students in building and developing necessary skills to configure and program robots, especially the skills to integrate robots into the automation system, which, in the future, will bring them many opportunities.”

Mr. Huynh Phong Phu – Manager of Robotics & Discrete Automation Department, Representative of ABB’s Robotics business in Vietnam – shared his perspectives regarding the enterprise’s restless support for education, especially Vietnamese education.

At the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Phong Phu – Manager of Robotics & Discrete Automation Department, Representative of ABB’s Robotics business in Vietnam – shared his wish to support education, especially higher education: “In 2022, ABB is determined that in the next 5 to 20 years, we must do something truly different to contribute to Vietnamese education, something that is valuable compared to other robot brands around the world. We decide to conduct a campaign to accompany leading universities in Vietnam to willingly train and provide students and lecturers with the access to ABB Robotics’ latest technologies. IU is the first institution with whom ABB signed an agreement among the leading universities in Vietnam and also the first university that ABB presented the robot station and Robotstudio software for training purposes.

Assoc. Prof. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice-President of IU – received the hand-over certificate from Mr. Huynh Phong Phu – Manager of Robotics & Discrete Automation Department, Representative of ABB’s Robotics business in Vietnam

The robot station and Robotstudio Stimulation Software Package are worth 8 billion VND. To contribute to the training of quality work force for the future, the benefits for students, as well as the chances for access to robots, ABB Robotics Vietnam developed a system for configuring and programming ABB robots simulated by real-life applications such as welding, cutting, assembling, packing, etc. in accordance with the curriculum at IU.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Toan – Chief Engineer of Robotics & Discrete Automation Department at ABB Vietnam – elaborated on the gift of the robot station and software package to the University: “The Robotstudio Stimulation software is considered one powerful tool for designing, stimulating, programming, and optimizing the applications of robots. Then, we can stimulate 3D models of robotic systems and activities in virtual environment, create and modify robotics program with ABB’s programming language called RAPID with ease or utilize designing tools, optimizing robots’ speed and accuracy. Specially, the robot station and stimulation package also assess the productivity and possibility of a robotic system in Robotstudio environment before being put into practice.”

Robot RB2001’s performance at the ceremony in the morning of June 2nd, 2023, was executed by IU School of Electrical Engineering’s seniors.

To express his gratitude to ABB Vietnam, Dr. Huynh Vo Trung Dung – Lecturer from IU School of Electrical Engineering, who has the most credit in bringing the project to the School – sent his deep gratitude to ABB Vietnam: “ABB Vietnam’s contribution has brought about a significant change to the learning and teaching activities at the School of Electrical Engineering, and we would like to express our deep gratitude to the company. ABB Vietnam has provided us with one state-of-the-art robot station, which gives our students the access and chance to master the knowledge of robot technology and automation. With these gadgets, we have created a learning environment that is more interactive and interesting than ever.”
