INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONFIRMS THAT IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SCHOOL VIOLENCE
Today, May 29, 2022, International University (IU) confirms that the incident of school violence that occurred at “an international school” is not related toIU, thepublic university and a member of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
In recent days, in Ho Chi Minh City, a case of school violence took place between students at an international school, causing disappointment for many parents, students and the community. A lot of negative feedback about this case has appeared online and many people have reacted strongly by going to Google’s search engine and giving it a 1-star rating for quality. However, a mistake that happened strongly affected IU.
When typing the keyword “international school” on Google toolbar, the first result would show the official website of IU. Amidst the anger of the online community about the school violence, IU suddenly received a series of negative comments and 1-star reviews.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Tien Khoa, Rector of IU, affirms: “As an educator, I fully understand the current frustration and reaction of the community about violence in educational institutions. However, I confirm that the unfortunate incident has nothing to do with our school. Our school is a prestigious public university in Vietnam and also in the international area. Our school is one of 7 Vietnamese universities that meet international educational standards, announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.”
International University (IU) is the first and only public university in Vietnam that uses English as the primary language in teaching and researching. The university has more than 8,800 students and nearly 600 graduates and master’s students. The university currently has 21 undergraduate programs, 10 master’s programs and four doctoral programs. After 18 years of establishment and development, IU has become one of the prestigious public universities in the Vietnamese higher education system with 13 training programs that meet the assessment standards of ASEAN Universities Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and 02 training programs meeting ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accreditation standards. IU is a quality educational institution accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET – 2016). In particular, it is the 7th school in Southeast Asia to achieve the AUN-QA’s educational institution assessment (2018).
