INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ‘S MASTER PROGRAM OF PUBLIC MANAGEMENT AWARDED 15 SCHOLARSHIPS TO HO CHI MINH CITY YOUTH UNION
On the morning of May 27, 2022, International University – Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (IU-VNU) in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union held a seminar on the Master’s program of Public Management. The program is organized especially for Youth Union officials and members who are studying and working in Ho Chi Minh City.
The seminar attracted more than 100 officials and members of the Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Master of Public Management program at International University is designed according to international standards to help leaders from all fields acquire the necessary skills and strategic thinking so that they can tackle current issues in the world in terms of public sector and public-private partnership. The curriculum provides diverse knowledge from general awareness to in-depth utilization of public management, thereby helping learners gain multi-dimensional knowledge and become flexible leaders, who are willing to face new challenges and make a difference in leadership style in the context that Vietnam is increasingly promoting international integration and actively participating in the global supply chain.
In particular, the target audience of the program are officials and civil servants who are doing management work not only at towns, districts, departments but also extended to the commune and ward level. In addition, the program also expands to students working in businesses of all economic sectors and non-governmental organizations. The training program is ideal for these students who want to improve their understanding of public management and its application to their current job. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuong – Head of the Public Management Training Center, stated that: “The training program is designed to help students not only gain solid knowledge of modern Public Management, but also know how to apply their knowledge of economic, finance, communication, scientific research methods, etc. to the formulation and implementation of the Party and State’s policies, but also leadership skills and human resource management skills in the public sector. In addition, students graduating from the program will have strategic vision and knowledge to help formulate and implement public policy effectively.”
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuong – Head of the Public Management Training Center shared thoughts about the program at the conference on the morning of May 27, 2022.
The program will help learners know how to understand the psychology of the masses and be able to carry out marketing campaigns in
accordance with authority’s guidelines and the public’s wishes, and have the ability to handle crises. The program will focus on some of the skills that are highly appreciated by many students of the course, such as 1. helping students recognize and evaluate ethical issues at work and related fields, 2. having good communication skills and the ability to read and understand English in the society and working environment and 3. offering the opportunities to exchange public management experiences abroad. Periodically, the school has led a group of students to study abroad to gain more experiences. In particular, there have been 2 delegations, one of which was sent to study and exchange experiences in Thailand and the other to Korea.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Phuong – Head of the Public Management Training Center emphasized: “After graduating from this
training program, students will acquire soft skills such as teamwork, presentation skills, communication skills and public presentation
skills. They will also have the opportunity to participate in international seminars to improve their scientific research skills and publish research results in the field of public management of Vietnam to the world.”
The highlight of the master’s program in Public Management is that many students have participated in writing scientific articles published at international conferences and have won The Best Award Paper. Besides, there are selected articles published in prestigious international journals indexed in Scopus.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van Canh – Vice President of International University – awarded 10 scholarships to Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union.
In a short time of establishment and development, the master’s program in Public Management of International University has trained and fostered grassroots officials the capacity in economic and social management, policy implementation, strong leadership and political bravery which contributes to improve the efficiency index of public administration and management. Additionally, the program also expands to students who work in businesses of all economic sectors and non-governmental organizations and who want to improve their understanding in public management and its application to the current job.
With its strong points, the program also has the ability to contribute to the international publication which helps to expand the
influence of the Vietnamese education system in the world. The program is gradually increasing the number of scientific publications of Viet Nam National University, Ho Chi Minh City to help improve the university ranking. The program also meets the accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in 2020. In particular, the Master of Public Management International University decided to award 10 scholarships, each worth 15 million VND to students from Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union. In 2022, International University will organize 2 admission sessionss which are at the beginning of May and the end of September. Accordingly, the application will be open twice with 72 targeted admissions: on 1 May, 2022 and 30 September, 2022.
