
INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY – HO CHI MINH CITY) SIGNED THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERP (BELGIUM): ANOTHER STEP TOWARD GLOBAL STANDARDS
On the afternoon of April 3, International University (IU) held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony with the University of Antwerp (UAntwerp), Belgium. The event was established as part of the State Visit to Vietnam by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Belgium, along with other official engagements of the Belgian Royal Delegation in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Founded in 2003 through the consolidation of three institutions in Belgium, the University of Antwerp prioritises innovation and scientific research. The university published 4.420 scientific works annually across various fields, and is home to 17 research institutes and 15 renowned research centres. Last year, UAntwerp was ranked 267th in the QS World University Rankings.
On behalf of IU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Thăng – President of IU, signed the MOU with Prof. Herwig Leirs – Rector of UAntwerp, on the afternoon of April 3rd, 2025.
This MOU aimed to foster collaboration between IU and UAntwerp in project development, research cooperation and community service, particularly in life sciences, including biotechnology, microbiology, and healthy lifestyle in primary healthcare. The initial goal of this meaningful cooperation was to enhance the quality of life for residents in Mekong Delta and Ho Chi Minh City.

The MOU not only advanced the internationalisation of IU but also commemorated a key milestone for the university on the global academic market, paving the way for future collaborations with other potential partners.
