1160 FRESH PHDS, MASTERS, BACHELORS AND BACCALAUREUS OF INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY – VIETNAM NATIONAL UNIVERSITY GRADUATED IN 2022

On November 2627, 2022, International University – Vietnam National University (IU-VNU) held the Graduation and Post-Graduation Ceremony 2022 at Tran Chi Dao Hall. The 16thCeremony witnessed the graduation of 1160 Fresh Ph.Ds, Masters, Bachelors, and Baccalaureus from 12 Schools and Departments.

The Ceremony was honored to have the presence of distinguished guests, the Board of Directors VNU-HCM, the Board of Directors IU, Lecturers and Staff, Parents, and most importantly, more than 1000 newly graduated Ph.Ds, Masters, Bachelors, and Baccalaureus. The ceremony began with an energetic performance from IU ARTEAM, which was then followed by The ExcellenciesWelcoming ritual and the solemn National Flag Salutation.

During his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Tran Tien Khoa – President of IU expressed his sincere congratulations to all newly graduated Ph.Ds, Masters, Bachelors, and Baccalaureus. Especially to the new Ph.Ds and Masters, the President of IU also sent them his praise for their restless effort not only in overcoming the obstacles in studying and researching, but also balancing between work and life, which contributes to today success.

To the new Bachelors and Baccalaureus, Assoc. Prof. Tran Tien Khoa believed that the class of 2022, compared to the previous classes, has experienced much more hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was because of those hardships that the degrees conferred to the graduates today are more meaningful for the unprecedented experiences.

Assoc. Prof. Tran Tien Khoa shared: “You have every right to be proud of yourself as this is the result of your many years spent studying and training at this university. However, in some developed countries, the graduation ceremony is also called the beginning. You will come to realize that although the knowledge and skills gathered from schools are precious, they are nothing more than your initial base. I hope that you shall stay persevering to fight and study toimprove as Victor Hugo once said: “Perseverance is the secret of all triumphs…

More importantly, this year Graduation Ceremony welcomed the representatives from two businesses with an intimate relationship with IU, Mr. Sami KteilyExecutive Chairman of Pepsteel and Mr. Pham Van Tai the CEO of THACO Corporation. The two main speakers of the event shared their sincere messages to all newly graduates.

Mr. Sami Kteily said: “Try to begin with short-term goals instead of very big dreams, and put efforts into those goals. If you are too focused on the far-fetching dreams, you may lose the incoming and present wonderful things without noticing”. Mr. Pham Van Tai then emphasized: “A long journey begins with your first steps. So be brave and leave remarks on your life with the first unsteady steps. Then you will find out that those steps mark your growth. Don’t be afraid of moving forward. Move to fulfill your journey!

As of November, 2022, after 16 undergraduate classes and 10 graduate classes, 7920 bachelors and baccalaureus, and 960 Masters and Ph.Ds graduated from IU. This is also the 3rd year that postgraduate students graduated from IU. Among the 1100 new bachelors and baccalaureus this year, 289 bachelors graduated in 4+0 twinning program with the University of West of England. Moreover, IU decided to award 4 gold medals to excellent graduates with the most impressive achievements.

The university decided to award the title of valedictorian to the new bachelor of Economics, Ms. Nguyen Thao Uyen, with the GPA of 91.9/100, and the new baccalaureus Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Phung (Applied Mathematics major) to be the valedictorian in Engineering majors with the GPA of 92.6/100. In addition, the school awarded 21 silver medals to 21 fresh bachelors and baccalaureus of 12 schools and departments with graduation scores from 80 to 89. The school also gave awards to 48 excellent female baccalaureus to honor female students majoring in Engineering.

Assoc. Prof. Tran Tien Khoa – President of IU conferred the diploma and gold medal to the new baccalaureus Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Phung (Applied Mathematics major) to be the valedictorian in Engineering majors 2022.

This year, specially, Ms. Nguyen Lap Phuong Uyen, a master student from the Electrical Engineering major, graduated as the Valedictorian of Master Class 2022 with the GPA of 94.2. Moreover, Mr. Ly Khoa Dang, a master student from the Public Administration major, graduated with a silver medal, entitled the Valedictorian Master of Public Administration and Economics majors of IU with the GPA of 87.2. Mr. Ly Khoa Dang was also pursuing his Postgraduate studies in Medicines at HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, also graduated as Valedictorian at the end of 2021.

The flashlights representing the dreams of all newly graduated Ph.D, Masters, Bachelors, and Baccalareus are lit at the end of the ceremony.

Since 2012, most of the university’s students have been employed right after graduation. On average, each year, depending on the major, about 95% of IU’s students work in their same field of training one year after graduation. Among students who are employed about 28% of graduates are working at foreign companies and corporations, 35% of graduates work at corporations and companies which have various foreign elements or are associated with foreign nations. Also, according to the assessment of employee-user units, 94% of enterprises are satisfied with the training quality from the school. In addition, many bachelors and baccalaureus are granted with postgraduate or Ph.D program scholarships from many foreign universities, with great achievements in scientific research. Among them, many former students have become young lecturers of the school.
