INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SIGNED MOU WITH HCM CITY DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

On March 9th, as part of the Conference on Implementation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Activities in Ho Chi Minh City 2023 organized by HCM City Department of Science and Technology (DoST), International University (IU) signed an MOU with HCM City DoST.

To continue accompanying the enterprises community to conduct activities to support the development of the innovation startup ecosystem, the Conference on Implementation of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Activities in Ho Chi Minh City was organized to serve the following purposes: Summarizing activities to support innovation startups in 2022 and SpeedUp program in the 2017-2022 period and kick off the 2023-2025 period; announcing the start of the Innovation and Startup Award – I-Star 2023; and giving directions for other activities related to innovations and startups.

In his opening speech, Dr. Nguyen Viet Dung – Member of the Municipal Committee – Director of HCM City DoST – said: “In Vietnam, there are many problems that require solutions. Nowadays, our nation is conducting digital transformation and developing AI-based applications to solve the problems of Vietnamese market, especially in the public sector. We would like to take this opportunity to share this issue with the community. We shall continue to discuss and hope that, from now on, there will be more nurturing programs and more competitions to search for solutions for problems of the domestic market, public affairs, and Vietnam. At the same time, we hope that from these activities, we can spread the spirit and new messages which can give those wishing to run a start-up a more realistic viewpoint.”

As an active member of the innovation startup ecosystem, IU Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (IU-CITT) is honored to be one of more than 20 Universities, nurturing divisions, and supporting divisions of the private sector to sign the MOU with HCM City DoST this year. By this MOU, IU-CITT commit to promote their functions and missions, not only by being in charge of the technology nurturing practices but also by promoting startups, participating in nurturing startups of students, lecturers, fellows, and staff members of IU.

Prof. Le Van Canh shook hands with Dr. Nguyen Viet Dung and representatives from other universities in the signing ceremony on March 9th.

The event also witnessed the participation of representatives from HCM City innovation startup ecosystem as follows: Departments, Offices, People’s Committee of Thu Duc City, People’s Committee of other Districts in HCM City, Universities, Institutes, accelerating and nurturing organizations, startup supporting organizations, funds, and other international organizations.
