The School of Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) was established to attract top talents, then educate and prepare them to become leaders in production management, logistics engineering, and supply chain management. The School of IEM with 2 departments – Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) and Logistics & Supply Chain Management (LSCM) – offers 7 training programs to satisfy the needs of industrial development, research, education, and entrepreneurship.



1. Optimization for manufacturing and supply chain

  • Multi-Criteria Decision Making: Establishing and solving multi-objective and multi-criteria decision-making problems with applications in management and engineering.
  • Scheduling and Sequencing Optimization for service and manufacturing systems
  • Mathematical Programming and Operations Research: Apply Integer programming, Linear and Nonlinear programming, Convex Analysis, Generalized Convexity, Nonsmooth Analysis, Variational Inequality, and Equilibrium Problems to formulate and solve Transportation problems, Supply chain design problems, Supply chain optimization problems.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Using discrete simulation techniques and/or integrated simulation-optimization techniques to build a digital twin of manufacturing and service systems.
  • Applications of Local Search Optimization: Genetic Algorithms, Tabu Search Algorithms, Simulated Annealing Algorithms, Ant Colony Algorithms, to optimize manufacturing and service problems.

2. Smart technologies in Production Management, E-commerce, cold chain

  • Apply Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to automate planning procedures and assist decision making for Big Data. 
  • Apply Internet of Things to connect hardwares and automate procedures in the value chain.

3. Industrial training and Technology Transfer

  • Provide short courses for companies in warehouse management and lean production, etc.
  • Provide market research relating to supply chain. 
  • Provide CNC products.
