INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY STANDS WITH STUDENTS AFFECTED BY THE FLOODS IN CENTRAL VIETNAM

In recent days, communities across Central Vietnam have suffered severe losses due tonatural disasters. Behind the staggering figures of material damage lie the financial burdens facing parentsand the very real risk of disrupted studies for many Central Vietnamese students currently enrolled at the university. Understanding these hardships, the Board of Rectors of the International University (IU – VNU-HCM) swiftly rolled out emergency support measures in late November and early December 2025, guided by the principle that education must always go hand in hand with social responsibility. IU aims to ease the burden, provide strength, and offer motivation so that students and their families can stabilize their lives as soon as possible.

International University has approved a support package worth over 300 million VND for 69 students whose families were directly affected by the recent natural disasters. “While this support package is modest, we hope it will serve as timely encouragement, helping students facing difficulties cover some of their immediate living expenses and assisting their families in recovering from the aftermath of the floods,” shared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President of the International University.

In addition, the university is implementing longer-term support policies aimed at easing the financial pressure on students and their families. These include proactively coordinating with several commercial banks to help students access preferential loan programs for educational purposes. Notably, the university has decided to extend the tuition payment deadline for the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year for all students affected by the disaster. At the same time, the university will seek additional scholarship sources from corporate partners with strong ties to the institution to further support students in need.

“International University hopes that these policies will give parents more time to recover financially, easing their burden and concerns regarding their children’s education. In the coming period, the university will continue to monitor the situation and stands ready to implement additional psychological and academic support measures, ensuring that students from flood-affected areas can graduate on schedule. Our top priority right now is to make sure that no student’s academic journey is hindered by natural disasters,” said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Duc Anh Vu – Vice President of International University.
