Laboratory for Cellular reprogramming |
(1) To focus on somatic cell reprogramming, embryonic stem (ES) cells, iPS cells, differentiation of embryo during the early development, germ cells, epigenetic reprogramming, genomic reprogramming, transgenic animals,and regenerative biomedicine. (2) To achieve 20 years of combined 4 key biotechnologies of 21st century such as animal cloning techniques, induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cell), Transgenic animals, advanced reproductive technology, and modern breeding applications in medicine and agriculture. (3) To provide high-level research and education for graduate students in the field of stem cell, cellular reprogramming, assisted reproductive technology, and transgenic animals. We will focus on the most advanced technology in the world and the latest research technologies in animal cloning and the applicability of those technologies in medicine, recombinant human protein applications in pharmaceuticals, and in agriculture.

Histone deacetylase inhibitor scriptaid rescues full-term development in cloned inbred mice by enhancing nascent mRNA production.Reproduction, 138: 309-317, 2009(IF: 3.413). – 2013: the first time in the world to have 25 generation of cloned mice from 1 somatic cell. Drug design and simulation |
Groups focus on applying modern biology such as genomics, proteomics, pharmacogenetics … into pharmaceutical design. The group has successfully carried out many research projects for influenza A and type II diabetes. Main research directions: (1) Clarify causes of drug resistance and design new drug, vaccine using bioinformatics approach. (2) Development of new drugs from rich herbal sources in Vietnam. The novelty in the group’s study is the application of a modern pharmaceutical development process, which combines multiple methods at once, like “in silico” (computer simulation) with “in vitro” (in test tubes) and “in vivo” (on animals). |

Many applications today use large-scale and complex information systems such as cloud computing, data centers, mobile networks, smart cities, etc. The research challenge we are focusing include: (1) Developing autonomous systems for checking reliability, performance, security (detecting, warning, preventing, and managing faults) for large-scale and complex information systems. (2) Computer vision and image processing. (3) Evolving intelligent systems for big data. (4) Resource allocation in the large-scale system. We apply optimization and game theory to design the state-of-the-art algorithms to allocate the resources efficiently in the system. |

We successfully established and have run the first 4-year training program Space Engineering in Viet Nam. We have also organized the Vietnam School of Astrophysics annually in Quy Nhon in order to train young scientists. So far, we have organized 5 schools. – We have collaborated with domestic institutes (e.g., VNSC, STI) and international institutes (e.g., ASIAA in Taiwan, KASI in Korea, NAOJ and ISAS/JAXA in Japan). |
